JOB SUMMARY:

This advertisement is for multiple teaching openings at either YLA in Pickens, SC, Tall Pines in Aiken, SC, or Summit Academy, the new Hybrid/Virtual School. Teaches students or supervises an educational program; plans and conducts classes based on grade level and/or ability of students in given classes. Other duties as assigned.

JOB DUTIES:

45% - Essential - teach:
Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences and problem-based learning. Develop schemes of work and lesson plans. Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities. Prepare classroom for class activities. Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities. Identify and select different instructional resources and methods to meet students' varying needs.

20% - Essential - Monitor and Evaluate:
Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment. Use relevant technology to support instruction. Observe and evaluate students' performance and development. Assign and grade classwork, homework, tests and assignments. Provide the appropriate feedback on work. Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students. Maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development.

20% - Essential - Reports:
Update all necessary records accurately and completely as required by laws, district policies and school regulations. Prepare required reports on students and activities. Participate in extracurricular activities such as social activities, clubs and student organizations. Participate in department, school and parent meetings. Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress and student needs.

15% - Essential - Manage Behavior:
Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures. Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school. Apply appropriate disciplinary measures where necessary. Perform certain duties with students, including but not limited to student support, counseling students academic problems, and providing student encouragement. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education - Bachelor's Degree - Elementary or Secondary education
Certifications - Teaching Certification

RESPONSIBILITIES

Fundamental Job Knowledge - Fundamental working knowledge of concepts, practices and procedures and ability to apply in varied situations

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
No Supervisory Duties - Not responsible for supervising employees.

No Budget Responsibilities - No fiscal responsibility for the department's budget. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

COMPENSATION INFORMATION

Salary varies based on education and experience.

Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines .

ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL

Normal Operations

Required to follow emergency facility closure directives, and not normally expected work on-site during emergency situations. JOB LOCATION:

We are hiring for all three locations - Youth Leadership Academy in Pickens, Tall Pines STEM Academy in Aiken and for our virtual/ hybrid school Summit Academy.
