PART-TIME CUSTODIAN - WEEKENDS Summary/Objective The purpose of this position is to maintain the cleanliness and appearance of Rocket Center buildings, facilities, and grounds.

Custodial Systems
Meet or exceed the expectations of the Custodial Manager for the cleanliness and appearance of USSRC buildings, facilities, and grounds.Work includes, but is not limited to:
- Sweep, wax, vacuum, and shampoo floors where applicable throughout the USSRC
- Clean office and common area windows
- Clean and dust Rocket Center's internal and external exhibits
- Collect trash and refuse from offices and grounds.
- Use a pressure washer to clean sidewalks and buildings.
- Move and transport various equipment, materials, and waste in an accurate and timely manner.
- Ensure that the Custodial department has adequate supplies necessary to conduct daily operations.
- Meet or exceed legal, industry, and professional standards for the use and disposal of cleaning chemicals and waste.
- Operate the lift loft in an efficient & safe manner and follow written policies.
- Meet or exceed the expectations of the Custodial Management team for the accurate and timely completion of tasks and assignments.
Supervisory Responsibilities No
Required Education and Experience High school or G.E.D. required. You don't need any experience.This is a will-train position.
Work Environment/Physical Demands Summary - This position has the following special requirements:
- Standing, walking, and climbing stairs for up to 8 hours.
- Carrying, and lifting supplies and items weighing up to 40 pounds to waist height.
- Bending, kneeling, reaching to store/retrieve supplies, cleaning high, and low areas, behind exhibits, etc.
- Inspecting, visually and physically, areas for cleanliness.
- Ability to communicate effectively with employees and guests.
- Working directly with cleaning chemicals such as bleach and floor stripper
The Custodian is a physically demanding position. The incumbent must spend the entire time at work standing, walking, lifting heavy objects, operating medium-weight cleaning equipment such as floor buffers, sweeping and mopping floors, and moving desks and furniture. The incumbent is required to do a great deal of stretching and bending, often in awkward positions. Operating floor machines, such as buffers, polishers, and waxers, are particularly hard on back muscles.
The Custodian works in a climate-controlled building environment that is exposed to noisy and dusty areas. Daily the incumbent works with dangerous and toxic cleaning products that can be very harmful to one's health if not properly utilized. Many of the cleaning materials give off noxious fumes and have powerful odors. If not handled properly, the cleaning materials can cause injury, sickness, and/or skin irritation and rashes. In some cases, these products give off unpleasant odors. The incumbent also regularly must clean up blood, saliva, and other bodily fluids that are unpleasant to deal with. This position may also involve working outside in various weather conditions.
