The Lincoln Electric Company—Kaliburn location is seeking an experienced, action-oriented Manufacturing Engineer with capital project and CNC machining background to help us grow quickly. Experience purchasing CNC lathes and mills and/or finishing projects in scope, on time, and on budget a plus.

 

PRIMARY FUNCTION

Participate in project management activities and progressively take on larger scope project management roles. Secondary function is to evaluate, develop and document manufacturing processes to provide greater productivity and efficiency. 

 

  ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Identify opportunities for capital improvement projects; write capital proposals and manage projects, budgets, and timelines
  • Develop innovative new processes, setup new lines, and work cross-functionally with other departments
  • Actively seek out high waste activities and drive efforts to reduce waste in the machine shop
  • Evaluate opportunities for improvements against company goals both to existing platforms and beyond; validate feasibility, oversee implementation, and evaluate effectiveness of efforts
  • Lead team-driven activities related to continuous improvement such as Kaizen events, 5S+1, Process Flow, Cost Improvements, etc.
  • Lead small group(s) of production/technical employees to determine root cause of problems; use problem solving tools to mitigate risk
  • Perform work on machines and hand processes as part of observation process
  • Develop and improve manufacturing plans based on capacity and resource utilization
  • Create standard works, work instructions for manufacturing processes. Ensure all new equipment is properly documented
  • Design experiments to collect data to be used in statistical analysis
  • Perform statistical analysis of existing or proposed manufacturing processes to determine if objectives of the process can be reliably met
  • Conduct process failure mode and effects analysis (PFMEA) in order to determine the reliability of new and existing manufacturing processes
  • Create fixture drawings using SolidEdge
  • Perform general duties as assigned and assist in other areas as workload requires

 

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field and 2+ years related experience
  • Project Management Experience with history of finishing projects in scope, on time, and on budget
  • Advanced math skills including ability calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, area, volume, circumference and rate; ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
  • Self-starter, motivated and resourceful
  • Detail orientated with a strong work ethic
  • Results-driven with a focus to exceed goals and objectives
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization, both verbally and in writing
  • Positive attitude with a desire to learn

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, machine lubricants and chemicals used in cleaning processes. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
